The Supreme Court docket has upheld the constitutional validity of the 103rd Constitutional Modification for providing 10 p.c reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The court passed the suppose with a majority explore of 3-2. Justice Ravindra Bhat dissented from the majority explore on EWS. Chief Justice UU Lalit Lalit concurred with the explore of Justice Bhat.

Justice J B Pardiwala concurred with their views and upheld the validity of the amendment. Justice S Ravindra Bhat, in a minority explore, dissented and struck down the structure amendment on EWS quota.
